I own an 06 rsx base , what is the cheapest but also reliable HID setup?
topic really sums it up.. not looking to spend a fortune, I just want a quality HID setup because I'm used to HID's from my old G35 and the stock lights just aren't doing it for me.
Does your car have a myopic lens? If you take a traditional lens and put a HID in it you will blind everyone on the road. The myopic lens focuses the light. This is why true HID lights have a sharp cut off point and it's also why (on occasion) when a car with HID's is coming towards you it looks like they might be flashing you, but actually the car has hit a bump in the road and now you are seeing the full effect of the light. I've had great luck with TYC. I have a full HID kit (housing, bulb and ballast) on my 95 EG. I also manage a collision shop and we have to order a ton of aftermarket lights; I've always been happy with TYC. If you can't get a myopic housing I know that you can have one put in your stock housing. If your buying an aftermarket light look for 'projectors' and then add a HID kit to it. I've used the 6000K lights and been very happy with the output. Upgrading your lighting is a great idea, just do it the right way. Good luck!

By this "myopic lens" do you mean a projector or a bulb shroud? Since the 06 rsx headlight is lamp style....

still need input i want to go into a shop not looking like an *** so i don't get raped on the price.
McCulloch (sp?) i hear is the best brand. Look in the sponsors marketplace, you'll find loads of hid kits....
Myopic lens is a focal lens as opposed to having the light projected in all directions. You can now focus the lens and it will look like an S2000, BMW and others. If you can not find an aftermarket lens then there are companies that will put a focal lens in your stock housing. Perhaps a JDM light would solve the problem.

So you mean a PROJECTOR
SInce the rsx has lamp stlye headlights, most hid kits will provide a bulb shroud that will help focus the light better...

To rizobizert, the shroud is for LAMP style headlights. It goes around and holds the bulb, reflects the light back into the LAMP and then onto the road. So it HELPS to focus the light, you wont get much of a focus, or cut-off line since its a LAMP style headlight. I think everyone knows that a PROJECTOR focuses the light to the point where it has a cut-off line. You really sound like you don't know what you're talking about.
OP, a lot of hid brands now-a-days will do good. I've never seen any brand fail. A shroud or retro fitting a projector will help you emit the light better....

EKSTEVE, I'm familiar with the 'shroud' you are referring to, I manage a collision shop. What I am expressing is that putting a HID bulb in a traditional halogen housing will cause issues for other drivers as the light will not be focused as it should. My recommendation is that you get a focal lens. Do you understand what I'm saying now. The HID kits on provide a difference in light capacity (lumens) and the current that they draw. A stand alone HID kit will not change the focus of the lens or housing that it rests within.
