Default HELP!!!!! I think my brother bought a car with a stolen motor/transmission?

My brother just came into town with a car he has purchased on January. I noticed there were two holes on the transmission and there were no VIN numbers. He didn't ask for the receipt nor did the seller provide him with one. My brother doesn't know anything about cars and sadly, I wouldn't be surprised if he fell into this mess knowing theres a lot of shady people.

Is there anything I can do to help him? Report the seller to the authority even though its been a few months? We're going to report the motor to the police department but we don't want any accusations.

Then he can kiss his car, or at least the motor goodbye. It's posession of stolen goods. It doesn't matter whether you know it or not.

ive went thru the same thing. just dont do anything to get the cops to look under the hood and since there isnt any vin numbers on it than they cant prove thats its stolen so the chances of someone finding outis pretty slim.

Just next time, ask the seller for the VIN numbers or serial numbers and call the local police office and check with them.
