Default Apexi V-afc2 questions....

I was wondering what are the pros and cons of this device? Will it work on a 93 D15b civic with stock ecu? Also can it be used to substitute a Vtec ecu since it can trigger Vtec?

Ok, That device is refferd to as a "piggy back", as in it alters the signals in your ecu by bypassing the the system wires through the controller and changing the signal readings recived by the ecu. They are nice but as i and a few other people would say chipping your ecu on a single computer program is the best route to tuning but the Apexi device does offer you with on the spot tunning abilitys. yes it does give you the power to change the vtec engagment point and along with that change the MAF readings as well giving the ability to add or subtract fuel points.

So then I can use it to safely engage Vtec without a Vtec ecu?

I did some research.According to what I found its not of much use unless you have a lot of mods like a turbo because when added to a stock engine it only adds a couple hp more. Also I read something about it being for OBD2 I think...is that true or could it work on OBD1?

Well see the thing is that I already have it lol.I'm just trying to decide if I should keep it or sell it.I have a D15B in my car but I dont have a Vtec ecu so if this device alone can trigger Vtec I will probably keep it.Does anyone know of any downsides to this device?

well being as it only modifies the signal to the ecm to engage vtec sooner, by just hooking this up to the ecm you have right now wont give you a vtec signal. i think you might even need to wire up the vtec solenoid when you swap in a ecm that supports vtec.
