Safety harness
I'm about to buy a set of harness for my car but I don't know which one to get, what brand, how many points, pull up or pull down, mounting style, mounting location etc. I would like to know what most of you use on your race car. I have a Momo start 2007 bucket racing seat, 10pt. roll cage. Car will be for drag racing of course. I hope that helps. I really appreciate your input.

i like the Stroud harnesses
5 point is the standard that most get
the Kam Lock design makes it easy to buckle and unbuckle
pull down is the preference i have used and seen used most often
you want to get a bolt in style belt most likely to bolt the lap belt and sub harness belt to the cage/floor/seat base properly and for the the straps that go back to the harness bar you can use either the wrap around style where they wrap around the harness bar or you can weld a tab into place and use the bolt in style to bolt it into place
here is a shot of my car -- we use the bolt in for all the straps

I have the RCI cam lock type its cost effective they all have to pass the same test to get approved by SFI so getting too baller doesnt make very much sense to me. Wrap around seems a little easier to instal.
Pull down style is mainly for door cars and such where the driver straps themself (politically correct) in. Pull up is mainly for dragsters and such where the driver is helped by someone else to get straped in.

Heres what a Simpson Platinum 5 pt harness looks like. It is a pull down style with cam lock and the shoulder straps are wrap around mount. The lap belts can use the stock seat belt mounting location if desired. BTW, this belt is for sale. It's in perfect condition as it was never used, just mounted. The harness is dated March 07', so it's good until March 09'. If interested please im me. Prices can be found by clicking on the link in my sig. Some pics of it...

Thank you for such an advice. now i can focus on what type of harness I need. Innes, I know you're using the strouds harness, have you use other brands like simpson, G-force,Schroth or RCI?

if i remember correctly we had a Latch and Link style simpson in the EK Coupe that we ran back in 2004. it was a nice setup too, i don't recall any particular negatives about it other than the upgrade from the latch and link to the Kam Lock style was a good change
