Default My CRX is back on the street! (nightmare)

After a grueling week of no play, just money work and car work. ITS DONE!!!!
Back on the road yesterday after i got an alignment done. Even took it to the races last night, very fun, haven't done that in months.

So here are my few leftover problems.
-----
Somewhere the cable connecting to the speedo pickup is disconnected.
Anyone have a picture of the connecting point and line?

On the passengers side there is a boot on the steering rack before it comes to the connecting point at the wheel, and its ripped open. probably since before i got the car. its totally dry, i'm wondering if its supposed to be sealed with grease in it.

Braking sucks after being on jackstands all week. really annoying me, fluids all fine, is this typical after a CRX has been sitting?
Also wheres the best cheapest place to buy braided steel brake lines?

The ghetto wiring job the owner before me did is pissing me off, i'm thinking of ordering a hasport harness monday. Anyone have complaints about it?

NEXT SUNDAYS PROJECT. Installing my rear disks.

I have the hasport wiring harness for sale.. 40$ +shipping.

My problem with the speedo connection to the tranny was that the clip needs to be on there and the boot needs to fit around the clip... not as easy as it sounds. btw: I used the crx si speedo cable that was till on the car.

Steering rack: I'm not sure.. tell you what.. stick your finger in the boot.. if you feel any grease at all then perhaps... since you don't have power steering I want to say that the boots are only for protection. Duct tape it until you find a solution. To find a solution.. call a local honda dealership.. you will have yur answer in 5 minutes.

For the brake lines: Stainless steel brakes lines won't firm things up THAT much. you might want to consider a brake upgrade. Rear disc conversion? or how about a bigger master cylinder? The stock one is 13/16ths so going to a 7/9ths or 15/16ths is a good upgrade. if you bleed your brakes again consider speed bleeders or a vacuum brake bleeder. If they haven't been bleed in a while then bleed the system with 99% isopropyl rubbing alcohol. after that use cheap dot 4 then final flush with good dot 4. btw: I used the disc swap from a teg. it's sooo worth it!

i know a guy that had that joint on the steering rack break because the joint dried out....not fun when going 60+ down a major highway. The only thing that the stainless lines do is prevent the lines from flexing as much when you hit the brakes....so it wont help all that much with stock brakes.

Thanks for all the info. Yea i'll ask the honda guys about the steering rack boot tomorrow, gota go by there anyway.
Speedo - i just looked at a digital pic of my rear mount taken from the passenger side o'course; and i think that's it right on top of the transmission back there...?

Have the whole rear disk setup from a 91 Si, bought it for 100 off a local guy on SRO, very complete assembly.
I'll most likely upgrade to a FastBrakes kit by sept. What other places do you know of with bigbrake kits for CRX's, i've only seen fastbrakes.
Do you use a brake balancer of any kind and where can i get a bigger master cylinder, i know this one is as old as the car.

Where can i get a speed bleeder/vacuum bleeder.

When i start a project, like doing brakes, i look for all the "well while i'm at it" type of stuff, aka steel lines and ****. 100$, no biggie, but having to bleed the lines a second time, such a hassle I'll probably get the goodridge kit off lightning, thanks!

No brake balancer here but I did swap my proportioning valve to a 40/40 (meaning it's for a 4 disc car.).

It's F*cking worth it to bleed yur brakes well when doing a brake swap/upgrade!
BTW: make sure you clean out the resevoir from either the old or new master cylinder.

I got my M/C from http://www.importautosalvage.com
I got my Vacuum bleeder from http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog....2050&SKU=85700
MAKE SURE you read all the instructions and it'll be the best brake investment you make!

I think i'll get this adjustable proportioning valve:

Ordered the lines and vacuum. I got the lines for a 91 Si (i have an 89 si with the 91 rear disc conversion) sound good? theres no change to the front lines in 91 is there? What cars do the larger acceptable M/C's come off of?
