Default moving bumper-light turn signal to corners?

just curious, i want to make it so my corners blink with my turn signal so i can open up my bumper lights to get more cool air flowing into my engine. I tried just swapping the two plugs and wires but it was just read as a short and i got the fast blink but i couldn't see anything...any suggestions?

ok, you can do what i did with my side markers. Just cut the wire and tap it into the other light. It's not very hard at all.

if you do this, when you have the corner lights on, they wont flash when you have the signal light on, will they?

why? you ask, so instead of having bumper lights i can have cold air blowing into my cold air intake, and on the other side have tubing bringing cold air into my engine compartment to cool things down.

thanks for the feedback people, i assumed it would be that simple.

What do you mean you couldnt see anything? you mean the corner lights were too dim or didnt blink at all?

Corners should already blink. If they don't, maybe you're bulb is blown.

the corner lights have too small of bulbs, they don't pull enough current to satisfy the flasher. so the flasher treats it as if it had a burned out bulb.

One of the bulbs already blinks (the side one), but the other does not. he's trying to get the front one to blink. It's pretty cool to get them both blinking because they alternate. the problem is, if you hook up the front bulb of the corners to your turn signal wires, you loose them as parking lights.

Here's an option: wire the front bulbs of your corners to the same wires as the side bulbs, then they work as both parking lights and turn signals. Then leave some bulbs in your bumper light sockets but hide the sockets so you can't see the light comming from them.

The only other option would be to figure out a way to run a higher wattage, dual element bulb (1157) in your corners without melting the plastic.

You have to replace your bulbs with double fillament ones so they can work as parking lights and blink at the same time. replace the bulb and switch the plugs and you're good to go.

hey, while we're on the subject of custom lighting... does anyone know how to make it so that the turn signals are on when the lights are on? and still blink with the turn signal? i guess make it act as a parking light, on top of its blinking duties...

not on my car. when stock both corner bulbs were parking lights (neither flashed)... jdm corners illiminated the second (outer) bulb
ive thought of making my corner lights my turn signals and eliminating the bumper lights (or somehow using or replacing them to run as fog/driving lights)

parking lights arnt really necessary (imo) when i already have daytime running lights but i always thought that the corner lights werent really visible enough to use as my only signal lights well that and i can never totally decide if i should install the sidemarkers i have and im thinking that if i do it would be tough to match the amber of those with an aftermarket amber bulb in the corner

why do you need more cold air into your engine? do you race the car on a track where it would actually benefit? it's more of a hassle than it's worth, to me.. just get a 90-91 bumper with the fake scoops and cut them out.. that would save you time and money.. plus, i don't even think that you could pass safety without them...

Get a socket for a double filiment bulb (1157) at any auto parts store. You'll need to make an extra notch in your bumper light housing so the socket will fit. hook the wire for the brighter element to your factory bumper light wire, and hook the other wire to the wire for the corner light, this creates more heat than the stock way, so there is a chance of warping the plastic housing (mine has developed some slight warpage)
