Im trying to help my friend get her car moving.

1. Good Spark
2. Fuel coming upto fuel filter and rail.
Good fuel
3. All grounds attached.
Good Ground.
4. Good battery.
5. No Cel
6. Jumped ECT and thats ok
7. Main relay ok
8. Firing order correct.
Here is what it does.
It starts to crank over when you turn the key at about the 3rd turn over it almost turns on, it makes a "puttering" sound and almost kicks on.

idk man my car was doing the whole cranking and not starting thing and i replaced the coil in my distributor and it fired right up so i would give that a shot its like $70 at you local autozone or car parts dealer but your getting good spark so im not sure i wish i could be more help.
the spark seems really strong on all 4 wires. the plugs now are full of gas though from the cranking and not starting.
9. Checked ECU grounds on thermostat.
10. Scanned it with a Cen-tech Scanner. NO CODES, NO TROUBLE MSGS
11. Checked timing and its dead on.
Will do a compression test.
I was thinking it was the coil as well but the spark is good.

yeah they are fine and remember the car was starting just fine until the rad was changed. It died about an hour after running with the new rad.
I looked for anything and everything that could have been dissconnected everything is right.

Did the car just die as she was driving it along, or did it just stop starting sometime after the radiator repair? Was the car running abit rough after the overheat? Any smoke from the exhaust? Any coolant in the oil/ oil in the coolant?
I'm leaning towards a compression problem at this point. Run a compression test on it

she drove it around stopped at the store. Got back in and started it and drove home. At home tried to start it and it "sputtered" and died(was rough idle).
Now it just cranks and almost starts but doesnt. on third turn over

Get the compression tested first thing. Its looking more and more like a head gasket failure. Let me know what the comp pressure looks like and we will go from there.
sounds mechanical. if the plugs have fuel on them, and your spark is blue/white.
good luck
good luck
Sounds like fouled plugs. Start simple, put some new ones in. Does this car have a "chipped" ecu?

happened to me before i did my headgasket and checked my timing on the disto so could be not getting enough commpression or timing is off
I am having the same identical problem as yours on a 96 civic 1.6. I have checked for injector pulse - ok. I ran a compression test and came up 150, 150, 125, 125. Cranks over fine, good spark, but it keeps fouling up the plugs right on startup.
combustion needs 4 things.
air, fuel, compression, and correct ignition. make sure you have all 4.
ok you know you have fuel to the rail. have you noided the injectors to see if there is a pulse? if there isnt, make sure there is 12v at the yellow and black wires.
