noob swap question, your advice
i recently purchased a eg hatch with an 2000 ls motor with about 90k. im absolutely in love with this car and love driving it. i have always owned trucks and this is so much funner to drive. but i am looking for some more power.
my question is what should i do. i have about 4-5k to spend. i dont have to spend all that but am willing to have a very nice quick ride. im looking at it as a daily driver with some ***** and not looking to take it to the track. maybe a couple times eventually. i would be happy with around 175whp. i dont want nos or FI. i was looking at the ls/v but i am questioning the reliability. could i make a reliable and fast lsv for about 3k. im also leaning towards the h22 swap. it seems like it is around 4k. i think the hp and torque would be perfect but i drove a h22 swapped eg and the shifting seemed odd. but nothing i couldn't get used to. if i could get some opinions on the lsv or if anyone has the h22 swap and how they like it.
another thing i am thinking is that i already have the ls in her. would i be able to maybe through in a gsr motor with the same mounts and or similar computer set up. any advice would help. thank you.
please dont just post....get a b18c5. i would like just a little more info please.

well im new to modding hondas but from what ive learned, an ls with vtec is a pretty decent ride, if your going to do it yourself, there will be a hell of a lot of work to do. Personally if I had the money you are willing to spend i would have gone with a B18C GSR only because, besides getting it swapped in, you virtually dont need to mod anything else to have about 180hp 140tq which is pretty damn quick in a light car as yours, and it fits the best out of all the different series motors. Ive also considered an H22 swap but after learning what i'd have to do in order to make that baby fit in the bay... it wasnt worth it at all. it is said that an h22 swap is the hardest of the D/B/H/K Series honda motors. and YES i have heard it was harder than a K Series swap. But it has been done so it can be done. well theres my 2 cents. Good luck man

If you build it properly, there's no reason an LSVTEC won't be just as reliable as the motor you have in there now. Not to mention more power and torque. It's definitely capable of making 200 whp. If you go for a swap, you're not going to gain as much as if you were to just use what you've got and upgrade. Just my $0.02, but I wouldn't swap.
I agree with ^^^. Heres a link to swapping an H22 into your eg, so you can understand what im talking about. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=650329
hey thanks for the info. i probably going to keep the motor in there and lsv her. now i need to find some info on that. shouldn't be too hard. thank you.
Just wondering but why dont you want FI, you could put some forged pistons and rods in and get a nice turbo setup for around 3k for everything and still be very reliable with a good tune and put down a very nice amount of power, but to answer your question personally i wouldn't swap in another motor when you already have a nice platform to start with. The money you would use to buy another engine could be put to better use by building a beefed up ls/vtec that would put down more power than almost any stock swap you would put in.
