Weird starting problem...
When I get up in the morning and go out to start my CRX (B16A2 Swap-OBD1 Conv), it "starts fine" (meaning there is no problem cranking or anything) but shakes somewhat rigorously for about 5 secs then the idle increases (from about 1000 to about 1500-2000 RPMs) and she starts to pur, she then runs fine, and starts fine all day long. However when I go to start it the next morning, same thing, it does seem to be worse the warmer it is. Also sometimes when it's really hot out she is a b*tch about starting. Any ideas?
Just for reference she has had a new fuel filter, spark plug wires (Type R), 4 new plugs (NGK-Iridium), oil change and filter (Mobil 1-5W30), Seafoamed, Dry Gas'ed within the past year. (This is my summer car- she only gets about 3-5K mi yearly)
Thanks

You know I can't say for sure, but I do believe it started after the seafoam (not directly), I will NEVER put Seafoam in my car again, I only gained negative results from using it. It took my car a few days to return to "normal" and has never been quite the same, I have probably around 60,000-100,000 mi on my motor and maybe it killed some of the compression.
I also wonder if maybe I have a sludge build up or something, because I don't run with the O2 sensor connected, and I heard it can make the car run more rich. Personally I have found my car to run more smooth and have more power in the mid/high RPM range w/o it. However when I used the seafoam, about 2 days later I went to start it and it smoked white *** smoke like crazy, I added it to the fuel system as directed. So if there is a buildup maybe the seafoam cleaned some of it out, or all of it lol.

Ok I have confirmed it only does this when it's started on a hot day and/or it's been sitting in direct sunlight on a sunny day (However only when it's say 75 deg or higher). Any ideas? I kinda think it has something to do with the ECU acting wacky more than it being a mechincal problem. It behaves like it's not getting enough gas or air and is going to stall out, but the ECU keeps it alive.
check out your FITV and IACV, look in the faqs for a writeup.
Mine have gone bad a few times and it can be pretty intermittent/random. But it wouldnt sputter at all, it would just idle high (and the rpms would jump/bounce around some times).
are there any CEL codes in the ECU?

Well it could be the IACV b/c I have had problems with it in the past, but the problems I experienced was the car not starting at all. I'll have to do some reading about the FITV not sure what that is all about. My CEL is "alyways on" b/c I run w/o an O2 sensor, but I will hook it up and see if it throws a code or not.
Thanks
