Hey guys, I have a 1997 Honda Accord DX with 99xxx miles on it. After I purchased the car I noticed it had a sputter/hesitating problem. It only does it when I first start the car up, put it in drive, and go to take off. To take care of the problem all I have to do is give it about 3/4-full throttle for about a second or two and it will run fine as long as I dont turn the car off, but if I turn it off and then start it back up again it will do the same thing.
I did a tune up on it and noticed a substantial amout of oil on three out of the four spark plugs. So I figured that would be the problem but as soon as the tune of was done and I tried to drive the car it did the same thing.
So I'm thinking it's a fuel problemsince once it ran fine after I mashed on the gas, any help or input would be greatly appreciated, thank-you in advance...

 

Gonna need a lot more clues. Could be lots of stuff. If you haven't done a tune up in a while, do that too. Could be the fuel filter. Could be the air filter. Start by tracing down your trouble.

 

Sorry about not giving the proper info in the first post, I did a tune up the day after I brought the car home. I changed the spark plugs, wires, air filter, and gave it a new oil filter and new oil, only thing I didnt do yet was the fuel filter...

 

oil + spark plugs = fouled out (some times). My F22B2 had a oiled covered plug and when i did a H22 swap, i found out that the oil ring on the piston was leaking A LOT. but we need a lot more clues.
