I'm not sure what additives diesel oil has in them..

But i wouldn't recommend running it.

I've heard of people adding a quart of automatic transmission fluid to there engine oil and letting it idle for 5 minutes before an oil change..

To clean engine from any gunk/build up/deposits..

There are also engine flush's and other cleaners that do that also

If this is something you are thinking about doing, i would just get some seafoam and use that instead. I had great luck with that, after using it i removed the valve cover and everything looked new inside. Oil is oil, and using different than recomended probably won't hurt anything, but they probably have a recomended oil for a reason. Good luck

Diesel oil is just a different weight oil with some anti foaming agents in it. I don't think it will hurt anything, but I wouldn't do it.

I've never heard of this; however, i have heard of running #2 diesel through the oiling system for a minute or so in order to clean the system. My Auto tech teacher used to do this to his cars every 30k miles. Its a solvent that gets all of the gunk out of the oiling system. As for diesel oil, i dont see the point.

It is completely fine to do this as long as there isnt alot of "sludge" in the engine. It could break lose big pieces of oil build up which can get stuck in different parts of the engine if the oil filter doesnt get it first. Just like put any oil cleaning additive in, if anything its better to put "diesel" oil in then additives. I for one do not do this but I keep up with oil changes and use royal purple or ams oil.

Hahahaha..... My grandfather used to do this to his cars... Worked pretty good.. granted most of his cars were older chevy's and ford's

Never hurt them.. but you only run it for a few minutes.. Just enough to flush the motor
