Help with speed sensor problem
ok i have a 1989 prelude 2.0 SI Fuel Injected.. i had some problems with my speedometer and odometer not working, so i remove the speed sensor housing from the transmission and upon reinstalling it i overtightened the bolt that secures it to the tranny and it broke off in the threading..about 1/4 of the bolt was left in my socket..yes i know im an idiot...it just wasnt getting tight at all so i kept spinning it and pop...so any ideas how to get myself out of this mess? all i could think of is drilling a small hole and backing out the bolt but its such a tight area on this gen of prelude that drilling is pretty much impossible.. i had a hard enough time getting that speed meter out..any help would be appreciated..

Ok, well that's not enough. The only thing I can think of is finding some way to drill a hole in that bolt and use a bolt extractor, or if you can somehow cut a slit in it you could use a flathead. Maybe remove the passenger side wheel for better access...

the flathead sounds like the best idea as i dont see a drill getting straight onto that thing any time soon lol...maybe i can cut at it with a razor for about a few days ;-)...remove the wheel you say...never thought of that..ill have to look into that..
Yeah, if you can remove the wheel and splash guard you should be able to get a Dremel or something in there to cut a little slit in the bolt remains...
ok couple more questions..when i removed it, there was a type of silicone gasket (from a tube) that i peeled off..should i replace it when i get this all sorted out and reinstall the vss? and second..is there a temporary solution i can use to keep the vss in the tranny or plug the hole in the tranny and clamp the hoses going into the vss so the vehicle can be driven?

You can get liquid gasket anywhere to replace that gasket.
I would not try to mess with those lines going to the VSS, that's your power steering fluid and if you undo those all the fluid is probably going to come out and then you'll have clean up and refill the whole system....too much trouble. I would try to find a way to zip-tie that thing in place real good.
