Aem bypass valve loss of power??
O.k i searched all the threads and found most people dont recomend them but i want the insurrance, so i got a 3'' cai for real chaep as well as the air bypass now does the air bypass valve couse a loss of power is it worth it? does any one know how much hp is lost thanks
i live i nocal doesnt rain much but i already got the bypass and im going to retune my motor with a new setup and dont want to hydrolock my new motor in the future when it rains couse it is my daily driver, but the same time want to get the most from my dyno tune, hope this makes sense
all input welcom just dont bash me for this post

hmm...I don't know if this is going to help since you already bought the bypass...but many folks here have cut their CAI's basically in half. They run it full length in the summer and once winter hits with all the rain they remove the lower half and just run it like a short ram in the engine bay. If you want to do it on the fly all you really need is an extra silicone boot and filter...now with that being said I have a CAI and use all year long with no problems and I have a 3" drop on 15's...but unless you plan on driving through water that's more than 12 inches deep I don't really see it being an issue...D
IMHO, a bypass valve isn't worth it..restricts air flow.. and if you run thru a decent amount of water it's not gonna stop you from hydrolocking your motor..
Also if i were you i would just run a short ram with a nice filter..
I got caught out in a few storms and deep puddles and i hate trying to avoid the puddles and worry so much.. so i switched to a short ram..
My engine is fine

Thanks my tunner got back and said the air bypass will usually cost 5-6 hp over a regular uncut pipe, so im leaving it i might cut it and put a cuppler holder and switch to short ram if i need when it rains
