Default VTEC crossover

my buddys jus got a 01 EX n wants to purchase a few things for it 1 thing is an intake but he was jus wondering if the VTEC crossover on this motor is any bit audible so i figured id ask u guys

its not. its a SOHC vtec motor which engages vtec in the lower 2k RPM so its basically always active. you will never be able to hear vtec on the d17

yeah can't hear vtec..
sucks doesn't it..
saves a lot of gas though hah

It's crossover points are different depending on your throttle.

but youll lose power. its been proven on both NA and boosted D17's

i thoguht vtec stock engaged in the late 4ks or 5s. but i wud never know cuz i have an d17a1 block with a2 head and run a vafc2. set it to cross over at 4. so i hear mine

The VTEC engagement point for the D17A2 is at 2700rpm's, as stated by Honda in their original technical bulletins for the car.
