Budget turbo build, map sensor problem
Okay, so we all know of this problem. What is there that I can use to make the map sensor see the proper amount of pressure? I have seen missing links, but those are mounted on the throttle body, and a map defensor, but thats just a one way valve. Anyone got any ideas?
Yes, get a chipped ECU that will actually use the MAP sensor to set the fuel and timing. If you want a hack, then go to a pet store and buy aquarium check valves, that will keep the MAP from seeing boost. It's a hack, it is not a solution.
I did that, but it drove like it ran into a brick wall because the only signal that the map sensor will see is the maximum vacuum pulled.
Well the check valve will allow air one way, and so it will keep letting air in one way, so whatever the maximum vacuum that the check valve sees, it will hold that vacuum.
U need to instal 3-5 valves in that hose witch goes to map sensor, valves are installed so that it will bleed boost before it hits map sensor. Using missing link is very stupid and ur motor is running super lean on boost. MAP sensor is now saving ur motor, when u hack that ur motor can ran lean and detonate and results are blown pistons, head gasket, rods, its good way to blow ur engine.
This is wrong place to save on budget turbo, so get ur ecu tuned and chipped. Chipping n tuning stock ecu isnt that expensive, go and see http://www.xenocron.com and spent time learning tuning and chipping etc before blown ur motor with wrong tune.

I'm looking into tuning it myself, so burning my own chips is high on the list. I am recently from the obd1 civics so all of this is a little new to me.

I don't get what you are doing, but this is what you need to do to prevent the MAP from seeing boost.
Go to a pet store and buy 3 aquarium check valves. Suck on each one to make sure which way they flow. On the hose going to the map sensor, place the 3 valves in a row in a way that you can suck away from the MAP sensor but cannot blow into it.
That's it.

well I tried the check valve. although I only had one installed. it really seemed to run worse because of it. but the kit has been taken off. I have been having some problems with the motor and so I have decided to swap in a ls motor. maybe turbo it then. I will keep you guys in the know though.
