Default H22 (88' civic) swap question

I have a question for all you EF swap guys out there that might be able to help me, right now i'm working on a H22 in an 88' hatchy. Using Hassport motor mounts (never again). I'm having problems with hood clearance and the rear bracket on the tranny. Does anybody know where I can get a cowl hood or any other hood that will work with this swap? Oh, yeah what rear bracket should I use for this swap I called Hmonline and Hassport, both said that I should use a 92-96 prelude bracket, I have two of those but they are not long enough, It's about 1/2 inch off the rear mount. Any info would be more than helpful. Thanks

I have the same project going on right now, im using the hasport mounts with a 92-96 prelude rear bracket. you can also use the 94-97 accord ex rear bracket they're virtually identical. I love my hasport mounts, that ws the easiest part of this swap. Did you install the tranny bracket correctly? i had a friend put it in the wrong place on his H22 crx and welded it all up just to find out he did it wrong! As far as hood options you can cut a hole in it to clear the valve cover, have a custom hood built, or the easiest way is to put a spacer on the hood to clear the hood. i just cut mine and am in the process of fabbing up a scoop or a hump havent decided yet. I have heard that a company is making a hood but that was just word of mouth.

you should double check and make sure everything is in the right spot and that it was installed properly.

Alright, so the 92-96 rear bracket, is that off a single cam, or what series engine? My bracket is bloted on fine, but I'll go back and double check. I checked with hassport on their website and gave me a part number (EGHRB), I looked it up and it said it was an integra bracket, I'm confused. If you could post pics of your setup or your friends mistake that would be awsome. Thanks

Prelude 92-96 5 spd S, SI, SI vtec (all models) rear bracket will work F and H series (short rear mount from factory)

Accord 90-93 5 spd Dx or Lx F series rear bracket is the same as above Prelude (short rear mount from factory, same mount as prelude years above)

Accord Ex's 90-97 USE A DIFFERENT REAR BRACKET all Ex's have a vacuumed TALL REAR Mount and DIFFERENT rear bracket because of that. Only time and possibility of using the EX rear bracket would be if your doing a H swap into a CD.

I used the rear bracket from a 95 accord ex that i installed an H22 into, i later totaled that car and pulled the motor and and trans to install into my crx. using the same rear bracket that was on my accord.

you bolt up the the bracket that hasport provides with there kit to where the battery tray used to be, then you stitch weld it into place. I dont have any pics of my friends setup, but here are a few of mine. Dont pay attention to the ugly welds, plenty of penetration on the first pass, second pass didnt turn out the way i hoped!

If you look on top in this pic you can see 2 holes where the battery tray used to bolt up. I just bolted down the bracket with the bolts rfom the battery tray and welded it in place. That is what my friend didnt do he just started welding.

here's another angle, you can see a bolt that i left in from the original battery tray

I know which bracket you are refering to, i was just trying to give an example of what my friend did wrong. I would just go to Honda and tell them what you need and buy a brand new bracket. I think they're like $60. Or go to hondaautomotiveparts.com and get one from them, they seem a little cheaper than going to the dealer to get parts!

Good luck on your project
