Default Car sluggish & Oil light takes long to go off

I've got a OBD 1 GSR motor and recently i realised i have an oil leak around the oil pan, the VTEC doesnt engage any more and if i do try to accelerate the car is sluggish and the here is white smoke out the exhaust.
yes yes i know i got a ton of problems . i am about to rebuilt the motor, new rings , bearings, new gaskets and seals. I realise that i everone is also saying that the oil light could mean oil pump on the way out as well, so i am going to buy one from my supplier, however he is selling Topline Type-R pumps. i would like to know if they are any good? or shoud i definately get a OEM 96-00 TypeR pump?

And can the long oil light when starting when cold be the pump for sure or can it be the oil leak and bad rings?

Usually when oil light comes on It means you're low on oil.

I am not low on oil. i check it regularly and if any signs i would put in some.
The car seems to be leaking pretty bacdly around the sump. i am going to deal with that this evening.

Could a bad leak around the sump cause low pressure and the oil light to stay on longer than normal on a cold start?

try changing the oil pan gasket and do a full oil change after and see if it makes a difference.

Figured out what it was.

Decided to take off the oil pan and see what's up and took a look at the oil pickup and there was a ton of grey silicone and crap inside there cleaned it out and the car was fine. oil ligth stays on a few still but it does go of faster than it was. and the car now accelerates fine and steady.
