I recently had my cat. converter replaced with an oem honda converter. it hasnt been but 8 months and my check engine light went off. the CEL code is P0420 Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold. Why did it go bad so quickly? Im running everything stock except cat-back exhaust so i wouldnt think it should have crapped out so fast. Does anyone know what could be wrong?

i wish it was that easy but those damn emission checkpoints pop up everywhere now
and plus i hear it doesnt make that much of a difference in hp anyways. i just want to know what caused it to go bad that fast.

Hmm.. How did you determine it's bad.. stopped up? honey comb inside rattling around?
Fouled plugs could cause unburned fuel to over heat the honey comb inside the converter and could cause it to go bad
I know you said you got an OEM cat.. or one from the muffler shop??
You could of ended up with a poor quality converter.. I know people with car sound catalytic converters and they have crapped out after a few weeks.. then i know people who have had 0 problems..
i guess it's hit or miss with catalytic converters.. assuming you didn't buy a CAT brand new from honda
