Water Spots
I was getting ready to ask a similar question myself, so I'll just add it here.
I have two Civic, both with water spots on the windows. I've tried vinegar, ammonia based cleaners, and even a glass stove top cleaner which is a mild abrasive because I had it and non of them worked.
I have come to the conclusion that the water spots are etched in and I need to polish the glass. I have seen some glass polishing kits on-line, but not in the automotive stores. I have also run across some posts on-line that mentioned using light buffing compounds.
Does anyone have any experience polishing the glass and have any suggestions on what to use to do this, preferably cheaply? I don't mind buying a kit on-line, but was wondering if anyone had any recommendations.
I was also interested if anyone had any information about using polishing compound from the local auto store.
Some on-line glass polishing kits.

To answer both questions above, I would take it to a professional detail shop. For window spots, we use a special water spot remover by malco. On paint, depending on how bad they are, you're going to have to hit the paint pretty hard with an agressive pad and compound. This is going to swirl the paint pretty bad and unless you're familiar with bringing the paint back to shine after you've done this I would leave it for the experts.
BTW there is another thread on here about water spot removal, try a search for it, it might not be too far down the list either.
