Default airbag replacement console option

to all those thinking about replacing the airbag with the candian console, why not just remove the cover off of you factory airbag? i did this on my personal car, and it looks stock, well, probably because it is stock........ the cover on the airbag doesn't weigh barely anything too. the cover has some wierd trianglular nuts on it, but nothing a good vice grip can't get off. i did this 3 years ago, and am still amused when people tell me i should remove my airbag........

umm, it looks like the factory airbag. as far as pics go, i didn't have a digi cam back then when i installed it. sorry. if you want i could get a pic of the dissasembled bag in the basement, but i don't know what good that'll do. when i do 1greyteg's car, i will post pics, so get on him about installing a new steering wheel.

I havn't decided on a wheel yet, and that's a winter project anyway.

Lemme first get the wrap fixed under warrenty and THEN remove the wheel. No sense in Not having a Perfect wheel When I remove it. I'm sure it'll fetch at least a dollar more on Ebay with brand new leather!!!

When my new wheel arrives, both airbags will be removed and the stock console will be replaced by a carbon-cover... I`ll post pics if it is of interest for someone.

Sure... but have you ever seen a racecar with airbag ?

I use a dished steering wheel so I`ll have to add H-belts ( to avoid smashing with the face onto the wheel) and a cage if I should continue track racing....

As for a daily driver I would not remove the airbags.... or better: drive another car.

yeah if I had the harness then i wouldnt have a problem taking out the airbag, but as it is now with my stock seat belts i think its best to keep the air bag in.
