Default ebay intake

A few people on Honda-Tech recently told me that instead of getting a new AEM intake from Andy's Auto Sport, I should buy an Ebay Intake and put a K&N filter on it. They said it would give me more power for less cost. But I always thought that buying crap of ebay was dangerous. What do you guys think?

intake piping is just piping.
the only reason to go AEM would be for carb
or if you had the money to spend

otherwise, ebay that ****

I disagree. Unlike ebay intakes, name brand companies actually do flow research for each particular application.

Show me a chinese cai that has some research engineering behind it other than for fitment.

I'm surprised there aren't any dyno comparisons on this topic yet.

Show me a cai that makes any real power anyways.......

A magazine did dyno tests a few years ago - it ended up being filter-wise, not piping-wise that made the most difference.

Buy a pos on ebay and get a good filter.

depending on which motor and what you plan to do with the car, I agree. There is not enough power gain for the intake for the price of an expensive big name brand. Buy from ebay for $25 and get a $50 K&N filter.

any one from ebay will be fine if you decide to put a better filter on it. just decide if you want a short ram or cold air.

There are countless threads on this exact topic. Each and every single one will say "Piping is piping is piping, it doesn't matter who makes it, blah blah blah"

Buy an ebay pipe, get an AEM or K&N filter, and your done.

like stated earlier it is a piece of piping i can go to any hardware store and get some PVC piping and a K&N filter and make an intake that will show about the same gains as an AEM one. as for ebay being bad to and extent yes it is bad but i can go on there and buy a AEM intake and jus b/c i got it off ebay doesnt make it a piece of crap it is the non brand name stuff that you have to watch out for. but simple stuff like and intake you can buy what ever the [freak] you want.
