Just blew my first motor, what next?
I'm in over my head, need some guidance. Spun a bearing this morning. This was the stock motor at 226k miles and with a competition head so it's no real surprise but I had hoped it would last a little longer.
Not really sure how this works, if I can get it rebuilt or a new shortblock or if I need to get "new" motor and just swap that head over. I don't want to be doing this every few months.
btw i'm in socal, any recommended builders/suppliers locally?

rebuild your block!
Acl bearings is what i used when i spun a rod bearing, jdm itr pistons on stock rods micropolished crank with oil passages cleaned and ball bearings pulled and plugged block hone and bored & resurfaced Arp head studs to sinch it up

What does this have to do with what the OP is asking?

What?
When I blew mine I dropped the trans. Then I pulled the head off. Then I pulled the shortblock out of the car while standing on the rad support and fenderwell. I suggest a engine hoist.

Thats the hard way to do it..
All you need is 2 jacks and a creeper/dolly...
lower the car on the jacks only, loosen the motor mount bolts then jack up the car and drop the motor from the bottom. Slide the motor out on the creeper.. done!

What crank/rod and block? I would rebuild the bottom end if you have the option of not driving this car for a while. I would use OEM, or ACL bearings, get a new crank obviously, and perhaps a new rod(if the original is damaged). Some higher CR pistons if they are not B16 pistons already, maybe .25mm or .5mm overbore, some ARP rod bolts and OEM lower gasket set.
Its the stock d16z6 right now with a gude head package. I've got another vehicle so I can take some time.
The main thing is I want to get it right this time so I'm not doing it again any time soon hence the concern aboug 226k miles just being too far gone to be worth it.
From what I understand this happens because there isn't enough oil on the bearings at high rpm right? What else can I do to specifically address this problem (like a big *** oil pump)? This car is being set up for track days so it needs to be able to handle the high revs.
