Default it never goes smoothly...... MPFI swap questions

I was planning on doing a MPFI swap this weekend, and when i got my intake today, the tps sensor was broken (suprise suprise)

Is there a way to make the system work without the tps until I get a new throtle body?

I didn't think so.

Use the TPS off your old manifold.

make sure you use a dremel or something and cut slots in the screw ends so you can get a flat head screw driver to screw them out.

if i am not mistaken the TPS sensor of the DPFI moves clockwise. and the A6 one its counterclockwise... if u do use it.... u gotta change the green and yellow wires of the TPS if u manage to put that one let me know i will like to know in order to keep my B1 one around.....

the hybrid one is a little better, but I've been studying both. Wish me luck this weekend!

so you can use the dx TPS sensor??!! on the Si throttle body??!! so that means you don't have to switch the tps wires around?? does Honda sell TPS screws to hold the thing in place??

The hybrid article makes no mention of using an Si distributor...like everyone on this board has said when I did a search. Do I need an Si dizzy?

I'm new to this swap..but I just recently got my STD hatch, and I'm looking for cheap/free ways to upgrade it. I already pulled a k&n air filter out of my old crx before it was swapped, gutted the cat, and stripped the interior.

Will this conversion give extra power? or is the swap done for some other reason?

DX TPS sensors will only work on DX engines, period.
You can use 10-32 screws to replace the factory screws on the TPS.
I have a TPS in perfect condition. $40 shipped to you, if you care.
I'll even thrown in new TPS screws

"does Honda sell TPS screws to hold the thing in place??"

hit up your local stereo shop, the screws that are used to bolt in the stereo brackets into toyotas (not the bracket to stereo, but bracket to car)are perfect size and length. and most shops have a pile of these lying around.

"no u cannot use the dx ps it turns backwards"

NNNNOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! I already have my car torn apart!!!!! and I already have my STD TPS bolted onto the new TB!!!!! And I need to get my car done by Wednesday!!!!!!!!!! CRAP!!!!!!

"Do I need an Si dizzy?"

Yes

"Will this conversion give extra power?"

Yes, and any other mod you do will be much more beneficial after you do a MPFI swap. the DPFI TB is very restrictive and is the bottle neck of the whole engine.

"I have a TPS in perfect condition. $40 shipped to you, if you care."

YES!!!!!! How fast can you send it!!!! Do you take paypal? Email me!

OK, I went back out to the shop to confirm things.....
and no, the STD tps doesn't fit..... Unless...... you want to figure out a way to hook it on at this angle:

I didn't think so either. Spaceballs, I'm still interested in yours.

Next, while I have everyone's attention.... I'M A MORON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I forgot to label a couple of plugs before pulling them. All of the other plugs are diferent sizes and shapes, so they only fit one thing. But these three are the same:

So I've got three plugs; a green one with blk/ylw and blu/ylw, a white one with blk/ylw and orange, and a white one with grn/wht and red/ylw.
and, I've got three sockets; one on the back side of the manifold, one going in to the #1 runner (seen in the pic), and one on some vacum do-hicky on the drivers side of the intake.

Would anybody like to be a pal and check their car out for me and tell me which is which? or maybee link me to a website that does? It would be greatly apreciated!

thanks man! you're a life saver!!!

now I just have to deal with my dizzy wires.... according to my research, I'm supposed to have a white, white w/ blue, and white w/ red..... I have a white w/blue and 2 pure whites I stripped back the loom and can't find a red stripe anywhere on either one

dizzy problem solved!!! Did a search (WOW IT WORKED!!!) found a previous person asking the same question and a fantastic answer by Tortex (thanks man)

Got every thing in and wired up (except for the TPS) and turned the key on, and low and behold gas was squirting out around the injectors!! there goes another $44.00 for o-rings (what a rip off). and of coarse the only shop in town that's open sundays only has 2 re-seal kits in stock. So I'm waiting until tomorow for the other 2.

Ok, hopefully this is the last thing. I was going to just hook this up and take a chance....

take a look at my dashpot (I think that's what it's called... on the throtle linkage)

The Si that I was looking at to see where things went doesn't have the center section in it and it only had one vacum line outlet. this one has two.

so, should I
1. pull it apart and pull that center section out? or
2.just hook the vacum line up to one of them and cap off the other one?

If #2... hook it to which one? or does it mater?

Default it never goes smoothly...... Aftermath

Here's an update (In case anyone still cares)

The DPFI TPS won't even work if you mount it 90 degrees off axis (see photo above) the resistance is different. So there is officially no way to make it work.

The new tps is on it's way, but being the Impatient retard that I am, I decided to give it a try with the old one (just to make sure the rest of the swap went ok, I wasn't gonna drive it on the road like that or anything)

Car started right up, but Idled at 5k and started blowing smoke out of the exhaust. I shut it down and checked the ecu, code 7 and code 10.... TPS and intake temp (I plugged the wrong harness into the intake temp).

So, hopefully when I get the new TPS, all will be well, and I'll be on the road once again!!
