Default OBD1 Civic (1995 DX with a P06 ECU) getting a OBD2 GSR Engine...

I keep trying to force the plugs together and they just wont fit!!!!!

Just kidding

The plug (I think for the injectors) doesn't line up, I expected some sort of incompatibility here. Before I go hunting down wires and repinning, I thought I'd ask a more weathered mechanic what components I will need to lead and to where.

I also have a 1994 Integra LS for parts.... if I can cut parts of the harness from that off and fit it to the OBD1 civic harness to make plugs line up, you've made my life easier.

Thanks in advance.

obd2 harness should work fine. get your hands on an obd2 gsr harness and your set. get an obd1 p72 with that and your goodto go. you might be able to find someone to trade you

Maybe I'm not understanding you...

The engine harness is OBD2 and came attached to the GSR engine, I already have that....just one of the plugs isn't matching up with the cabin harness, which is OBD1.

The ECU is also OBD1.

Do you mean rip the OBD1 cabin harness out and replace with an OBD2 harness? That sounds like overkill, but mabye I'm just naive.

I'm asking what I'll have to re-wire/lead in order for it to function correctly.

Other stuff I have that I can mix/match:

- The P72 ECU that came with the changeover (OBD2). I've looked into conversion harnesses and don't see any online that convert an OBD2 ECU to work with an OBD1 cabin harness..... probably a good reason for this.

- A complete wrecked Integra LS (1994)

I misunderstood you. I thought it would match up perfectly on all eg's. I dont mean to tell you to rip out any harness. I don't know what to do or how to wire it.

I do know that an obd1 to obd2 jumper is stupid, thats why people don't do it. obd1 p72 is the best route to go.

Yeah there has to be an underlying reason why this is so, probably due to incompatibilities with the cluster maybe?

I found a few other docs on the site I'm reading through, maybe I'll get my question answered....I'll be back.

NOPE, I was reading the howto here:

http://www.c-speedracing.com/h...4.php

And the engine is obviously an OBD1, because all his plugs line up correctly.

Someone out there has to have been through this already. This definitely calls for another write-up after I'm done, I can't believe there's no info on this combination....I've tried every combination of words in the search engine.

Here's some LARGE images so you all don't miss it, I don't want to see another post saying "just plug it in", because IT DOES NOT:

OBD1 harness FROM A DX CHASSIS, NOT CX, coming from passenger side:

The OBD2 GSR wire harness:

Look ma! It doesn't fit!

mmmk?

I can google and search the threads like the rest of you, I'm telling you, there's no threads on this.

It came from a 1996 Integra GSR.

I got my answer on another forum. For all those with this setup that see this thread in the future:

You will need an OBD1 engine harness, and will also have to put together a VTEC subharness. Done.

Thanks for trying everyone!
