ok Jon. If you get a 99 b18c1, it will probably come with the OBD2 engine harness still plugged into the motor. You plug that harness into the 3 main plugs in engine bay(located near the passenger strut tower) then that harness goes through your firewall into your obd1 ECU. Thats it. Once you do that you will need to add the additional VTEC wires(unless your car is pre-wired for vtec). So what you want to make sure you have is the engine harness on the obd2 motor and an obd1 ECU(p28, p72)

so it will go like this:
obd2 harness on the motor--- 3 plugs near your shock tower---ECU

i hope that clears it up for you.

That's it

I have a 98 GSR in a 93 cx. My secondaries aren't opening though. I think I know what the problem is though

Since it is the motor is OBD2, there is going to be one harness that won't plug into anything. Don't worry about, cause the car will run fine without it plugged in.

i was told that the obd1 is much better cuz it allows ur car to run with the mods ur givin it .. the odb2 will actually make ur car run slower because it wont accept the mods and run right with them .. what u think?!?!

Because they don't know what they are talking about.
The only problem I am having with my OBD2 motor in my Eg is the secondaries not opening at 6k. Other than that the car runs great. There are numerous people on the board with OBD2 motors in Eg's. Your above statement is exactly why I have a 98 GSR motor in my 93

why would you keep obd2 in a obd1 car??? Too much bullshit I say, keep it obd1 you will have more advantage to tune the car, chipped ecu and higher rev's, IMO doing a engine swap and keeping obd2 is a waste of time. I swapped a 00 b16a2 into my 94 eh kept everything obd1, wiring is a bit much at first, but if your doing your swap yourself you will get the hang of it, plugged it in and not one single code, runs awesome.......

I didn't say keep the motor as OBD2. I just stated that I would go with a newer motor. I was told I am at OBD1.5 since I'm running an OBD2 motor, OBD1 p72 ECU, in an OBD1 car

Jeez there are some misconceptions floating around about all of this, eh?

Look let me say this:

An OBD2 Integra engine swap into the 1992-1995 Civic is a cakewalk. Do not listen to any bullshit anyone else might type about it being more difficult, etc.

the engine may be OBD2 in the car it came in, but once you run an OBD1 ECU it is no longer "OBD2" anymore.

I run a 1998 B18C5 in my car with a re0chipped OBD1 P28 ECU and it has never thrown a CEL and it makes more power than stock B18C5 in a Type R.

I'll be back with links with in-depth how-tos.

Forgive me if this post seems a little wacky, but I'm just going to copy and paste different replies I've given others about this same topic:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">The swap is easily done in ONE day with absolutely not one single wire needed to be added if you keep the ITR engine harness. **** their labor and you don't need the P73 ECU. Tell them to knock a few hundred off and sell that ECU to someone with a 99-00 Civic Si looking for cheap horsepower.

<FONT SIZE="7">THE SWAP IS 100% PLUG AND PLAY</FONT>

That's right the engine will drop right in and will plug right in if you run the ITR engine harness and get a re-chipped P28 from kenji211@tampabay.rr.com in FLA near you.

I'd ask how much for just the engine, tranny, wiring harness, axles, shift linkage, mounts, exhaust manifold, catalytic convertor, etc.

This is probably THE easiest swap I can think of - period.

You would simply need to use the Integra timing side mounting bracket and mount itself, rear Integra mount bracket with the Civic mount, topside tranny mount from either the Civic or Integra, and use Integra front mounting brackets with the Civic rubber mounts and it will bolt right in with no hassles.

From there you simply bolt the ITR exhaust manifold and cat right up to the Civic exhaust since it is all the exact same length, and pop the axles in and plug the engine harness in at the strut tower areas.

Don't run the lame-*** ITR OBD2 ECU with a jumper harness because then you'd have to wire up OBD2 bullshit and the ITR ECU doesn't make as much power either.

Ask me how I know all of this...

</TD></TR></TABLE>

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">By the way:

And:

Image Station really knows how to reduce the quality of my damn pics too!

I'd load them up on We-Todd-Did, but for some reason it won't let me log on...</TD></TR></TABLE>

Now these were about the ITR swap, so the biggest changes are sell off the OBD2 P72 ECU and buy an OBD1 P72 ECU and then wire up the extras like this:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">First of all you are not limited to just an OBD1 B18C1.

Why?

Because even though the 1996-2001 Integras are OBD2, their engine harnesses PLUG RIGHT INTO your Civic's underhood chassis harnesses on each strut tower area.

This means you can find a low mileage 01 swap and keep it's newer distributor, injectors, etc.

Here's proof in pics that the OBD2 engine harness plugs right into the 1992-1995 Civic's underhood chassis harnesses, click the links because IMAGE STATION SUCKS GOD DAMNED ******* DONKEY ***** AND WILL NOT WLLOW ME TO HOTLINK PICS AS SEEN BELOW!!!
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...3/fc6c1064.jpg

And don't forget:
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...0/fc6c1062.jpg

From there all you'd need to do is wire up the secondary butterfly **** and the knock sensor as shown here:

Picture courtesy of Jason "Katman" Kaplan.

So about that ECU ****. No need to convert to OBD2 at all. Simply ask the swap source if they can throw in an OBD1 ECU in with the swap and simply plug it right in.

If they don't have one then you will need to locate one and try to sell off yours to a swapper with a 99-00 Civic with a B18C1 in need of an ECU.

1-800-962-8922 is the number to Import Auto Salvage in N.C. They are one of the best swap sources and will throw in an OBD1 ECU with their OBD2 swaps if you ask for it and they have one.
</TD></TR></TABLE>

Hope that clears up some of the bullshit, and sorry if some of it repeats but I'm in a hurry right now.
