Default Cylinder #4 Missfire

So after leaving work after a terrible day I was sitting in traffic and my check engine light comes on. I figure no big deal because the idiots at the full service gas station by me never tighten the gas cap enough which causes a CEL to appear. I went to autozone to do an OBDII test and it turns out my cylinder #4 missfired. I know the main reasons this would happen are spark plugs or maybe a valve adjustment. Well I just had the plugs replaced by Honda due to a recall about 12 months ago and did a valve adjustment back in may 07'. Also the CEL went off after 2 days or so. So now I am confussed. Do you guys have any ideas on what else could be wrong? I am always hesitant to take the car to the dealer cause they charge me $100 bucks for a diagnostic and usually tell me nothing is wrong. The car is an 02' with 62,xxx miles. Any help would be appreciated.

-Eric

Coilpacks. The earlier ones are known to go bad. 3 of mine failed (at the same time) about a month ago, and I've had problems with overheating on the car since. I'm also turbo charged, so a misfire would be more damaging to me than with you (assuming you're still NA). I replaced the coilpacks and haven't had a misfire issue since.

Yea im NA, never heard of coilpacks goin bad but then again what do I know. I am startin to think that this issue could possibly be related to my burning oil issue. I burn about 1.5-2 quarts every 3-4k. I have also noticed that at high RPM's (8400-9000) that I do get a bit of exhaust smoke. My buddy just mentioned that to me the other day when I toasted his CL Type S. Could all these issues possibly be related?

take your plugs, coils and injectors and swap them around. you may have to do this a set at a time, so you can write down where everything went and keep track of it. lets say you happen to move the #4 injector to #2 cylinder and the CEL comes back on #2 then you know thats the problem...

also do a quick compression test and see how healthy the engine is. you compression should be around 210+psi.

I dropped the car off at the dealership an hour ago and they seem to think its the spark plug but I had all 4 replaced in January of 07' so i don't think its that. They said that they may do a compression test but are not sure if they will need to. This is the third Honda dealership I have taken my car to, and I have hated them all. I really need to find a good mechanic in Mass.

the main reason ur car is falling apart is because its an AP1... sell it and get an AP2

Yup it was the coilpack, I go to the dealer by the way because I have an extended warranty. My problem is now that I am stuck here at work because the dealer will not have the part till tuesday they are telling me that I could damage the other coilpacks if I drive the car the way it is. Is that true or do they just have no clue. Thanks.
