Default Upper Control Arm - ball joints replaceable?

Hello-

Is it possible to replace just the ball joints in the upper control arm? Do they just press in? Are they the same as the lower ball joints?

Thanks!

i guess it could be possible, but it would probably be much less of a hassle and about the same money to have someone do it as it would be to just buy some good aftermarket uca's

Thanks for the advice. I am building the car for a buddy, any recommendations on UCAs? Do you know if any other model civic UCA fit this model? They are all out in the local store.

88-89 the upper ball joint is welded in, 90-91 is replacable. Thats only if nobody has messed with it.

id go with some skunk2 adjustables. that way if you need to fix some camber issues, you can.

I had to replace the whole upper control arm, they wouldn't sell just the ball joint itself.

skunk2 are the way to go.. they came out not too long ago and are about the only option out there unless you like cutting up your fenders and wheel well.

well I got the OEM ball joints out, and I have a press for the new ones...... so I may just press new ball joints in. Certainly cheaper than the s2 counterparts.

now if any of these damn stores locally would carry the upper BJs - by chance, does anyone know if any other years fit? 92-95?

you should be able to buy the upper balljoint separately now from local parts stores. i know SPC has a part number for a OEM replacement balljoint (not their adjustables, dont buy those), we replaced them before. i dont have available the part number tho.

but you have to have the 90-91 upper control arms in order to press out the old balljoints. there is a noticable weld around the top of the 88-89's if its welded type.

Stock replacement parts.....not adjustable.......
SPC part # 67075 = spendy....$40 each, but with a cool red boot......
Beck/Arnley Worldparts(nashville TN)=part # 101-4786....have not tried these, but they are probably cheaper....
Good Luck......
