Umm, the weight of air conditioning and a turbocharger are insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Tein SS are sprung soft in general, because they are a street-oriented coilover.

If you jack up the spring rates, you're going to be underdamped.

Why are you looking to go stiffer?

Hey guys got ahold of TEIN

They recomend that i go up 1" which would bring me from a 8kg/mm to a 10kg/mm which is max.

My problem is that with the car lowered not to low but when i hit some dips in the road the suspension bottoms out.

So, just to make sure that I understand you correctly, a Tein representative told you that adjusting the ride height will result in the spring rate being increased? If so then this is utterly incorrect.

When the spring 'pre-load' is increased by adjusting the spring perch it does nothing at all to the spring rate, only raises the ride height. The only way to increase the spring rate is to fit stiffer springs, in which case you can increase spring rate with or without changing ride height (dependant on the length of available springs).

Might depend on what your concept of 'too low' might be...?

Im going to recall them tomorrow. Cause i think the reason jumping up one inch is cause thats all they have in up KG from the ones that come on the SS .

This is what i have

kg/mm lbs/inch spring #
8 450 SY080-01225

the guy ryan recomended i go to a SC100-01250

I know the 1225 is mm so these would be 25mm higher,

the car is riding on 215 40 R 17 and im at about .5" from top of tire to the fender.

contact tein, they will be able to tell you how much stiffer you can go without being underdamped... usually its no more than 2kg over the off the shelf rate... and you can get the springs from tein...

if you do go 2kg+ stiffer i'd run the shocks at full stiff, this way the shocks will compensate for the higher spring rates. I'm not entirely sure about this but on my suspension application i had to turn the stiffness on my shocks. My shocks felt very underdampended running 10k/8k (kyb agx), yes i know these shocks aren't the greatest but i'm still saving up for a new suspension.

Hey guys Ive tried contactig TEIN and nothing back yet and tried emailing them.

The tein ss are on a 1999 acura 1.6EL witch is a 4 door civic with all power options. Its a turbo D16Y8 with front mount and yada yada. I find the front a bit to soft for some of the roads and i want to for now increase the spring rates a bit. I looked at this chart and its looking like the SY090-01225 would bring me up 56lbs per inch.

On Tein SS for the Integra I was told that I could go from 8kg front and 6kg rear to 10 f and 8 r. I used the front 8 kg on the rear and got 10kg for the front and have been this way for about 2 years. I did this through a dealer who claimed Tein says this is ok, and got the 10 kg from Tein. I adjusted the perches and have the same car height as before but I am perhaps 1/2 inch from the bottom of the threads. I am at about tire height front and rear. The fronts are longer springs as well as stiffer, so the front 8kg in the rear will use most of the threads to be at about fender to tire height, probably about 2.5 inches lowered from stock, can't exactly remember. See attached.

never thought about putting the fronts on the rear.

Reason i have not given up is im in the military and the car took a back burner i put maybe 500km on the car in 3 years.

I emailed them and tried to call them. Im gonna try tomorrow. Was just wondering if anyone did this. Thanks drive 4 fun.
