wArPeD Brake Rotors
Hi all,
My car shudders VIOLENTLY under hard braking; I'm assuming my rotors are warped (30,000+ miles). I was wondering whether it was worth getting them resurfaced or whether it was possible to directly replace them with slotted ones (keeping everything else stock). If the latter is possible I was wondering what kind of slotted rotors you would recommend. Thanks! and yes I already searched this forum extensively

ps. I'm still having that wobbly steering problem I posted earlier; it isn't the powersteering so I'm thinking maybe it's my unevenly worn tires and not steering column damage....

just get some brembo blanks they are only about 28 dollars (there not slotted tho)
You need to let your brakes cool after heavy braking before washing or parking your car to avoid warping. Also make sure your wheels are torqued correctly.

I'd recommend you buy new rotors instead of resurfacing them.
I don't think changing to slotted rotors will help that much since you're still on stock calipers....
Not sure about this one tho.

Slotted rotors eat pads faster, which is why many notice the slots tend to clog up w/ crap after a while, since this is pad material and dirt off the pads gumming things up. The slots will keep the pad "fresh" for a while, which gives the feel of better braking at least.
If you slap on Porterfield R4S, at $100 for fronts, then wear them out in 15-20K miles, did you really accomplish much, other than denting your wallet?

there was a whole thread on stock size slotted rotors...
anyway I wouldnt resurface your warped rotors and take off more material/make them thinner and weaker... just get Brembo blanks like I did and a decent set of pads.. I went w/ Brembo rotors and Hawk pads from http://www.collettimotorsports.com
click on specials...
EDIT: heres a thread I found using the SEARCH feature..

well resurfacing rotors isn't that hard a job, but in general it's one of the more labor money making small jobs out there. Considering it is a teg, go w/ the brembo oe blanks. crossdrilling gets a
and slots aren't necessary, for you at least. Btw, if you have abs... be sure to clean out your wheel speed sensor while you're down there. A whole bunch fail and they come in for "repairs" and really we just clean out the brake dust in the sensor and send them back out.
