Default 97 ex coupe 1.6l sohc misfire/backfire

so my girlfriend has this civic with a miss/backfire
when its warm up its horrible
bogs down at 1500-3000 under load
sounds decent at idle maybe a pop here or there
whatever im goin to auto school and workin at a shop
ill fix it!
NOT
coil was out of spec so it got replaced along with the plugs (they were motorcraft )
alt good
wires good
icm test good but testin isnt for intermittence which this problem is
test for grounds and continuity at ecu and icm connectors, seem ok
im really still leanin towards the icm but $275 is a BIG guess
could it be faultin out after its warm? and how can i check it while runnin?

sounds like it could be a main relay, they control the fuel and spark and often overheat causing this problem, its worth a try!

FIXED!
turns out the distributor was grounding internally
had to use a lab scope to find it
swapped in a junkyard dizzy and its good as new
