B16a2 stock.. overboost over 12 psi..

ok the motor idle very good.. No fume , nothing
when i boost it smoke blue from the exaust...(alot)

i release the pedal stop to smoke...

the compression drop a little bit.. like 205 to 185
and i have a little more oil vapor from the breather valve cover

but.. No noise.. no smoke when im not boosting..idle very good

Sounds like rings or even cracked ring lands on the pistons. We had the same thing happen and the pistons were completely cracked between the rings.

 

i would have to guess broken ring land and fried rings. you are getting bad blow by that is why you notice it when you boost.

so you went over 12psi. how far over?

can i run the engine like that for a week?

 

Also...how did you overboost?

Make sure all of the hoses are connected to the wastegate and it didnt rub a hole in the tubing. Ours wore into a sharp spot on the front of the car, caused a hole in the tube to the wastegate which caused the overboost. My friend was racing someone and didnt pay attention to his boost gauge. Next thing i know im pulling the motor and building it LOL!

 

i would first check your oil for metal particals. but i think the damage is already done. i dont see why you cant drive it till you have a huge cloud of smoke out the back.

Same thing here for me. Except I didnt overboost. I ran lean due to a bad map for my hondata and also a fuel leak.

Let me guess. You dont really see any smoke until the motor is nice and hot too, right? Same here.

Got my JE's the other day. Need my eagle, hastings rings, ACR bearings, and a gsr oil pump to complete the short block buildup. Rocket is taking care of the parts for me for a great price.

Soon to be boosting 15psi. and more on stock sleeves. Looking for 11's.

 

So, why'd you chose Hastings rings? I work at a parts store and we deal in those, heh.

JE uses Hastings rings. When I bought my pistons they didnt come with any rings, so Im going with what JE recommends.

 

Sounds to me like ring landings and rings like everyone else said. THis happened to me, overboosted due to improper installation of the wastegate(couldnt regulate boost). Now I have JE pistons, Eagle rods, stock sleeves, some head work and an AEM EMS!! It sucks it happened but I am stoked to see how fast it will be..I can get you JE pistons and Eagle rods for 875, with pins and rings.. Let me know..
