There was a change made to the floorboard when they changed over to door-mounted seatbelts that affected where the seat-mounting bolts are located. With a pan swap it can be done.
Those seats are from an 88 or 89 crx si. The door mounted seatbelts were introduced in 1989. The 88 crx was the only year to have pillar mounted seatbelts. On the hatchbacks and sedans however, the door mounted seatbelts were introduced in 1990. Seat pan swap won't work between civic and crx seats. You have to get some 90 crx seat pans. I have some for sale if you need some lol
the si seats above wont line up or bolt on my friend 89 ef hatch, what could be the problem. I thought these seats came out of ef hatch si??what do I do to make it fit 89 ef hatchback?

To the OP, i can tell you from experience that both civic and crx seats are only interchangable by swapping seat pans, or welding up new mounts.
Not sure, but i think the 1988 models mount differently. I may have something to do with the fact in the USA, it was the only one with pillar mounted seat belts.....but not sure.
In Canada, all models and years of both civic's and crx's came with pillar mounted belts.

i have 90 crx hf seat rails and they wont even swap over to the 88 si seats?? so these are 88 crx si seats?so will my 90 hf pans swap over to the si seats pans? how bout the rails to fit my 89 ef hatchback?
Swap out the seat pans. Disconnect the back rest from the bottom, on both sets of seats. Remove Hog rings that hold the cloth to the bottom of the seat pans. Swap the foam and cloth cover onto your "old" Hf pans, you may have to cut the metal rod on the back or bend it to get them to fit. (This is because the belt buckle is on the seat, so the pan thins out in the back.) Then use either new hog rings or some good zip ties to reattach the cloth covering. Attach the seat pan to the new back. Attach rails. Attach to floor. I bought the exact same seats and have the exact same car. This is easy, if you just look at the seats its self-explanatory. Just start messing with it, pay attention, and remember what you did. Hope this helps.
