Default Tips on Painting my b18a Block?

anybody have any experience painting a block need any tips?

i used a can last summer and did my block and trans i thought it was doing fine i had a leak sprayed some brake clean and took the paint off so go get it powder coated is what i suggest

degrease block.
wire brush any crud off
rinse
buy engine enamel from parts store (cast aluminum for factory look)
paint block
done

Are you after a show quality base clear job, or just want to freshen it up???

show quality! i saw someone with there block painted gold and i wanted to go with the same look.

Degrease the block , then sand it with 600 ( if you want to remove the texture then you will have to start with 80 and work your way uo to 600) Then prime the block with the proper primer for aluminum and the primer sealer over that...wetsand it smooth again, sela it, base it then a couple coats of clear. And yes base clear will stick to the block and last a long time if you do it right.
