well boring is the inside of the block, powdercoating is on the outside? Why does it matter?

Powder coat first then machine. They heat the block to around 400 degrees to bake on the paint.Tell them to be very careful of the deck surface. You don't want to deck the block any more than you have to.I deal with powder coat and polished parts daily.I spend almost as much time cleaning and chasing threads as I do machining.

I would love to have my blocks powdercoated for a nice clean look, but Ive always questioned the ability of the engine block to disperse heat.

I know for a fact powdercoating acts as an insulator because I send out valve covers to be done and the temp. difference can be felt between an engine with an without a coated cover. ( surface temp with hand )

It would be nice to see someone do a controlled test and see a difference in engine internal temp with a block powdercoated.

The block definitely transfers alot of heat. The powder coating reduces some of this transfer. If you radiator is acquit there won't be any problem. The internal temps should not be effected as they are controlled by the thermostat and water temp.

Would anodizing a block be a better choice? Does anodizing hold up to heat better? More durable? Could you anodize a block without touching the insides?
