slight oil leak.
I think my rear main seal i believe thats name of it is going bad. Is this something a sunday mechanic can fix? or do i need to take it to the shop?
are you sure its the rear main seal? i thought i had the same problem with my h23 and it ended up being the cam cap next to the distributor. Check around that area first too. If it is your rear main, then its something you can do, but it depends how fast you can drop your tranny. The seal itself is easy to replace, its getting to it thats a bitch
Yeah I think you might be right. The there is oil residue around the distributor area. Front left corner of the engine . Is this hard to change then? Thanks in adavance.
Front left corner??? no..,.. maybe at the back left corner.
Cam cap seal is where the vtec solinoid should be around. Thats more at the back of valve cover. You'd likely see oil around where the intake manifold meets the block on the very left side (if looking towards your cockpit from front of car)
When your car is cooled down remove your COIL PACK (behind dizzy when looking from front of car). Beside your coil pack is the CAM cap. Feel under there around where your valve cover meets your block. Also as I said look around where your intake manifold meets block. Thats where the cam cap would leak from.
Mine was pissing out of there and honda told me it was the main rear seal. I said no, no, no, told them to "*** off", took a better look and found it was the cam cap seal. NEVER LET honda diagnose your problems. Chances are its going to be the most expensive thing and also chances are it won't be whats actually wrong. They run a business aswell and rely on repeat customers. If you still have oil leaks chances are you are going to have to go back and spend more cash money (those dirty crooks)

Feel from the valve cover gasket down to intake manifold for oil. It could be valve cover gasket too but if its only at the top left corner below your Ignition coil pack than its probably cam cap seal ( I think its called)
