Default How to apply 5v to TPS off car?

I'm putting my IM back together and looking for a way to apply a 5v power source to the TPS for proper adjustment off of the engine. Is there any way to get 5v from a 12v car battery without a resistor? What I'm working with is an extra battery on the work bench and a digital multimeter. Anything I can do or am I stuck till I install the mani?

I did the samething yesterday on my bench but I used a 5v ac/dc adapter and a spare tps connector harness.

Go to a radio shack and get a little chip called a voltage regulator...

If you get a 5 volt one that will do the trick. I would just do it on the car though, hell you can take your tb over to the car and plug it in, its not like you need the whole manifold on there to set it.

yeah its easier to do the adjustment with the tb off the manifold anyway, since the screws are on the back of it

Just measure the resistance. Most multi-meters are also ohm meters.
