EX and SI have a power sun roof, but it will move to the pop up position as well.
I think there was an option to have it on other models but those are the only two I know for sure.

if it's a none power, pop up style roof, then it's aftermarket.

I have all but the 94 sales brochures for civic's, no non power pop up sun roofs mentioned anywhere.
But I know some dealers did dealer options for them. It's still an aftermarket piece though, and I seriously doubt that it's the same size as the OEM piece.

measure the opening, go to place that installs pop up roofs and ask if they have one that fits in that sized hole.

The EG, or Del Sol has a targa top.

The EK or EJ chassis has a sunroof.

Why does everyone call the USDM coupe/hatches EG's? They're not

if you want to get technical, the DelSol is an EG1 or EG2, not an EG.
There is no chassis code EG, all have a following numeral.
There are EG1-9s in Japan that are civics, but since saying you have an EH2, EH3 or EJ1 confuses most people that don't know the actual chassis codes for the USDM civics... calling the 92-95 chassis an EG is easier. (and even though you say it's wrong, you still knew what was meant)

By the same token, the EJ is actually the 78-82 civic, but the EJ(#) could be anything from 93-00... and the EK(#) never touched US shores...

stop being so literal, this dead horse has been beaten to death more times than anyone cares to count.

Actually, no. I thought he meant Del Sol.

WRONG. 78-82 civics were SM, SL, SR, SS, or ST.

And people still use it incorrectly?

I simply think it's a JDM fanboy fad, cause ever since I joined this site, I see it over and over. But not in real life....hrm, interestin how that works.

Sorry, got sidetracked. I havn't seen any with pop-up roofs, unless they were CDM/JDM/EDM. A sunroof installer will tell you for sure.

I have a short attention span.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by [ivi &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">]WRONG. 78-82 civics were SM, SL, SR, SS, or ST.

the EG chassis code (no number) was produced in Japan, the alternative to the SM/L/S/T chassis. (I learned this only a few weeks ago myself)

I now have the 92-93 and 95 USDM civic sales brochures (hopefully being scanned and posted soon), a non electric roof is not mentioned.

If you see a manual sunroof in a 5th or 6th gen Civic, it's aftermarket. It coudl have been a "dealer option", but it's not a factory part.

The reason you see these on DXes and not EXes or Si's is because it would be difficult, if not impossible to replace a stock power moonroof with an aftermarket sunroof unless you have one that's bigger than the current stock moonroof. Most people put an aftermarket sunroof into a car because the car did not come with any sort of factory moonroof. Most people would not dream of replacing the stock one with one more likely to leak and one without the power option.

The outer edge and seal of a stock moonroof is not the same as the aftermarket ones. To put an aftermarket sunroof in a car originally equipped with a factory moonroof (and keep the stock roof), you're going to have to cut a hole bigger than the stock moonroof so you can install the new seal around the fresh cut in the roof. Stock moonroofs generally have the roof curl in around the moonroof, with the rubber seal on the glass, not the roof.

If you really want the "lighter" aftermarket manual sunroof, sell your car and get a DX or something instead.

I'd like to know how heavy that motor alone is anyway.

Oh, and I agree... If you don't understand chassis codes, just don't use them. It's fine to not know, but don't pretend you do.

Lots of other people helped too.

Oh, and I can't recall looking at a 5th gen moonroof seal lately, but I would figure that it would be similar to the 6th gen one.
