Default Car turns off immediatly after being started.

Hi, I have a 5g and recently it threw a CEL for insufficient EGR flow and VSS sensor, I took it to a mechanic and he fixed them both, (ported EGR or something)

Lately when i start the car it turns off immediately after.. literally like a second after started, and it does this up to 3 times in a row.. and also when im driving the car will turn off very quickly and stay off or turn back on, it seems to be a rather minor problem, but I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction, thanks.

sounds like an ignition switch problem from what your describing.
will it stay running if you hold the key in the start position?

The car will run fine after 1 or 2 times of it turning off, and never hesitates to start, it just turns off really quick sometimes, not sure if that helps.

also could be a bad main relay since its intermittent.

I would try that first. If you hook up a fuel psi gauge you can see if its a fuel related problem or not.

Main relay is what I immediately thought when I read the thread title.

If you turn your key to the on position, but don't crank the car, can you wiggle the key back and forth, ever so slightly and without moving it out of the on position, and make the lights on the dash go out? if so it may just be the actual ignition switch, which is the wires that are attached to the back of the keyed part. I have replaced quite a few of them for what sounds like the exact same problem.
