Default Main Relay Problem?

ok.. so i've been having all sorts of problems with my DA lately.

this one will be involving a starting problem.

it first started when i got done driving for a while in the hot weather. i go to start it and it wouldnt start. i'm sure its getting spark and the starter is working. after letting it sit for a little while i was able to get it to start.

now just today i had the problem again. this time i noticed that if i turn the key to the on position the CEL doesn't turn off. so what i did was just keep turn the key on until the CEL turns off... so when it finally turns off or clicks i can start it up. then later on i go to start it up (starts up fine) but right away after it revs up to the normal high idle it drops right down and dies.

SO.. my question is.. could this or IS this the main relay. please tell me it is so i can just replace it and not have anymore problems.

P.S. my car has never died out after i start it up, warm it up, and start driving. the only problem it has come close to stalling out is at the beginning today when it started went up to high idle and then dropped right down.

can i get some comments please

i had the same problem with my 2nd gen integ also...hot day drove around..pump gas...wont start up again had to wait for a while. got a new relay from the dealer and fixed. I think theres a thread about how to fix it yourself (improve it somehow).

main relay at junkyard ~25bucks
main relay at dealer ~60 bucks (BRAND NEW)
fix main relay urself ~$?

i got tired of junkyard stuffs(electricals)....works for a while..then break down again...i say dealer (cost a bit more but worth it)

HTH

I had that problem a few years ago...just took mine out and had it re-soldered and it has worked fine every since!
