Default B16 alternator went out.

The alternator on my B16 CRX went last night and I was wondering if the alternator off of my original D16 would work as a replacement? Thanks.

i have heard that it would, but don't know for sure. i do know for sure that one off a 90-91 teg works perfectly. you may need a shorter belt for the d series alternator..not sure about the brackets. hth

NO!!!

The brackets are different. In addition, when I just replaced mine, I tried a 91 LS alternator, which is 65 amps. It worked, but not well enough. The charge warning light would come on at about 6k rpms & stay on until the revs dropped.

I changed to a 94 GSR alternator - it's 90 amps - it bolts right up & the plugs are identical between OBD0 & OBD1. The price difference on a rebuilt one was only $27 with tax, so it's well worth the money IMO.

hold up bro. yes the brackets are slightly different, but they worked for me. i pulled the brackets from the teg so i had both sets and could compare them. can't remember which ones i used i pulled my alternator from a 91 LS as well from the local yard..i've had it powering my car for about 8 months and i've had NO problems. maybe the alternator you got was broke or somethin.

What about an alternator off of a newer Integra LS? 94+ The local junkyard has several.

Up through 96 (95?) will work I think. So long as it's OBD1, not OBD2. If you're going to change it though, why not get the higher amp GSR alternator rather than a weaker one? Especially if you're running anything as far as stereo equipment goes, it's worth the extra couple of bucks IMO.
