Open Exhaust at the track????
I see alot of people running there exhaust open at the track, many of which are 13 second cars. For stock cammed, manifolded(is that a word), what if any gains do you get. I know your losing some torque and gainins some top end but is it worth it??
That is a big *** graph. Made more of an impact on your torque than your power. Anyone else....I'm interested too......
My friends 5th gen SI with a "very lightly" modified LS/VTEC:
With full exhaust and test pipe = 14.0's@95-96MPH
With open exhaust = Consistant 13.40's. Best pass 13.31@100.??

Well ill be damned!
Those are some nice and very impressive possitive feedbacks. I have always heard of people doing that and even seen it at the local track like the original poster stated. But now i beleive it will be time to test it out.

is it better to run no header or with header and no exhaust ???

you have to unbolt after hedders. dont want all that hot gas melting anything. ha i did this once in my driveway when i was installing my exhaust. holy crap is it loud or what? at idle sounded like a moster. i like it!

If I am reading this question right I would say NEVER run your car without a header on it. As for performance gains running open header, I got about an extra 3-4 mph on my trap speed. try running with your passenger side headlight out too if its in a civic. thats something a lot of people do, but some dont know.

I unbolted the headlight and it slowed me down...hehe. Actully, it was probably the track temps that slowed me down, b/c my bet pass was in the morning... This time out I think I am going to unbolt it from the cat..., open header, see what i can do
The best part for me is the sound!
8000rpm boosting 10psi with open headers sounds freaking awesome!!!

Open header OWNS!
I gained a solid 3.5 mph and dropped a tenth off even spinning a 2.4 60ft.
You dont lose any power, throttle response is a little sluggish from idle to 2.5K to 3K but when you are drag launching at 4K+ its never even gonna be an issue.
Power CURVE is more important than peak #'s at X rpm. TQ is what a drag car needs and free mid range TQ with no loss of power is a solid
from me.....one pass down the track made me a believer.
Plus uncorking a can of woop *** on a rumpty thump V8 at 8000 rpm feels good..........four pissed off hampsters at full song can turn some redneck heads
"WTF's he got in that there Hon-duh anyhow?"

I'm running open header on a B16a with 75 shot. Would i benefit more with an open header or an exhaust system (2 1/4) piping and no cat? Thanks for the feedback.

His crx is an Si. he ran it from the header and he took off the stock intake arm of it and ran it just from the throttle body just left it open sounds crazy huh? he doesn't drive it like that on the streets. just at the track. the only thing he has is a
v-afc. he didn't do it with slicks or anything. he had 00 si rims. if you dont believe me. i will load the pictures into my computer by today or tommorrow.

Nothing sounds better than an Un-Corked h22
Both me and my bro run our h22s with open Header. Our average gain at the track was 2-3 tenths and 1.5-2mph on the quarter mile. The sound adds a totally new feeling when rollin down the 1320s
Running no header...woooow umm.....not a good idea
