engine light after coolant bypass mod
no idea if this has been discussed before or not, but whatever.
the other day i did the cold start bypass on my bb2. it runs well (or so i thought) the problem is, yesterday i went for a drive, and when it heated up to say, the 1/4 mark the red engine light came on. mind you, the car was running perfect. no loss of power or over heating or anything. on my way home i stopped to buy some alcohol, which took close to 5 minutes. when i turned the car back on the light was off.
so im guessing its just happening coz its miscalculating a temperature or something caused by me taking the valve maybe?
so, basically im asking if anybody knows the cause, and solution to this? it'd be rad if you could fill me in! im gona go [freak] around with it some more, but i just thought id see if i can get an anwser.
peace guys!

The FITV has no sensors or anything attached to it, I really doubt the valve itself is the problem. The temp sensors for the ECU are on the engine with the green plugs. Did you bleed out the air after you bypassed the valve? Air would cause higher temps and bad idle, but probably not a CEL...
You may want to pull the code and see what it was for....you could have messed up something else when you bypassed the FITV.

yeah, i bled the air. i dont think it's over heating, it hasnt yet ever risen past half way on the heat gauge. it doesnt idle weird either. the revs are steady at all times. maybe its just my car turning whack on me? i dont know. thanks though
