Tranny Questions.....4th gen m2s4
Hey I was wondering how hard, and what specialty tools are needed to dissasemble and re assemble a m2s4.
See I have a tranny that always seeps out the pass. driveshaft, and have tried everything to remedy it,asside from taking it apart. Now I have a very low mileage tranny, but with a big chunk of the bell housing missing,so I want to take the internals from the low milage tranny and swap it into the good bell housing.I have enough mechanic skills to remove my tranny for clutch jobs and what not,but this seems a little intimidating.Any insight on this is appreciated....Im not even sure that its something i will do myself, just I dont have the money for 6 hours of labor at 50-100 per hour.
Thanks

No....I was told by 2 honda mechanics that its a pre loaded shim, and I even tried to have it replaced when I had my clutch done the very 1st time, but it only held about 6 months and then the same, and now it seeps even worse, plus if Im driving say in 2nd(or any gear) and push in the clutch and come to a stop with out disengaging the clutch pedal,I can hear a weird whirling until it comes to a stop(it being flywheel maybe, idk)not a throw out bearing, because I def know the sound.Anyway the tranny shifts smooth and has no other problems besides this.....but I just figure instead of messing with the shim again,i would just swap out the internals of the good tranny.
Thats what Im doing......how would you like me to do that without swapping the internals?
Anyways speciallty tools????? Whats needed? Thanks

i highly recommend purchasing a helm manual. I know that i can take a part a transmission with hand tools and nothing else, but getting it back together is tedious and the manual goes a LONG way to help you put stuff back together right.
I never had the noise....untill I had the tranny re shimmed. Before it would just leak out the axle seal, which I had originally thought was the problem so I replaced like 3 times, everytime to have it seep again. So like I said Im over it,I just want to try to swap it out.So hand tools, thats it,I have lots of those.
And I dont have a helms but I have a cd rom factory service manual and a chilton,so Im sure its covered in one or both of those(probally the factory). So maybe ill dive into it this weekend,im off and dont have to work until monday night.
