Default vtec timer on 93 civic with d16y8 motor

i have a built d16y8 with all the goodies inside. i bought the car from a friend of mine with a vtec timer, and the vtec is kicking in at like 5800. How can i get it to kick in at a lower rpm? and what would a good rpm be to set it at?

REMOVE IT! Honda knows when VTEC should kick in....not your friend. You dont need a VTEC timer for any reason. You're friend must be a ricer.

ya he is a ricer, but how do i get it back the way it was, and if i do take it off will the vtec or the ecu go back to the stock settings. Or can i leave the timer on and set it that way. Becouse im going to be boosting before to long, will the timer help me or hurt me...

how is it wired in? ive never dealt with ricer crap before. probably just some way to disconnect wires and let the ecu do its thing naturally. not like it rewrote the ecu code haha
