How many hp can a stock clutch handle?
Depends on what shape the clutch in, but 6 psi doesn't really mean anything. What is your HP/TQ goal going to be?

I also believe you need to be focusing more on trq... rather than hp

not only does it rely on the figures you'll be pushing, but it also depends on what you're doing IMO. launching and shifting w/ feathered throttle vs. mashing it + powershift are 2 different things.

Unless you're putting down crazy torque numbers, a stage 2 will be fine for anything stock to highly modified N/A or medium level boost numbers, but like any other clutch, don't abuse the **** out of it or it won't last. With the stage 2, you'll also maintain a good sense of streetability and your leg won't feel like a fat opera woman sat on it after you've been in traffic for 5 minutes.

stages dont really mean anything either.
call the company who you are interested in buying from and ask them how much torque each "stage" can handle then buy the one that fits you needs.

sorry if I confuse some people on here. Im going to drop in a turbo kit in my car this summer. I have stock internal. Im planning to boost no more than 7 lbs. Right now I cant afford a new clutch kit or better clutch. Just wanted to know if my stock clutch can handle the extra tq and hp. Until I get a new one. thanks

Again, it's not about psi, it's about torque. 7 psi can make an extra 25 ft/lbs or it can make an extra 150 ft/lbs....depends on the turbo sizes and tuning among other things. If I were to guess, I would say an Exedy stage 2 would be good for you....
Tuning is also important to keep those ringlands safe on your stock pistons.

Well I would say yes, unless your clutch is already heavily worn.Jackson Racing SC run 6lbs of constant boost correct? And they are fine to run with a stock clutch set up on 97-01 preludes, and 92-96 use the same clutch's and pressure plates as the 97-01's.....unless your turbo makes crazy amounts of torque,I wouldnt see the problem of running 6 or 7 lbs of turbo boost, which only will add power once the clutch is already engaged and seated to the flywheel.
