short shifter installation..how?
Hey guys I'm thinking about buying a short shifter and was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of how to install it. I was looking at the one from corsport usa with the bushings. Pictures would be awesome! I've read that it only takes 15 minutes, but I need like an idiots guide to it lol. This is also my first mod to my car, and i'll be ordering an injen sri with it so ya..i figure that's a pretty good start.
Thanks.
Thanks.
basic instructions are:
1. slide shift boot down and remove shift ****
2. remove everything around shifter assembly and place a towel under the shifter to prevent things from falling into center console.
3. place car in 3rd gear and remove the blue ball using a 13mm wrench (i think). it takes a little muscle to get this ball off, but be sure not to break this ball.
4. place shortshifter on and put the blue ball onto the shortshifter
5. and reassemble.

I'm going to let you guys know how much Frank helped me out. I bought another brand short shifter that didn't come with the tool to remove the "blue cup" and I broke said "blue cap". The company I ordered from had no advice on how to handle the situation, only to purchase a $80+ cable from the dealership. I called Frank because TWM was making "blue cup" replacements (in white). He had one in the mail on the way the same day I called. The great service also prompted me to buy their base bushing kit also. I'd definatley reccomend TWM

i concur re: TWM. they are great. i had an issue with their mazdaspeed3 shifter rubbing away at the stock shift boot threads, and they were in the midst of making shorter leather boots to compliment their shifter offering, but didn't have a ready-to-buy solution at the time. I sent pics to a contact over there to help him understand what stitch route i think would be ideal vs. what they had in the works, and he mentioned to me that for the troubles he'd send me a boot FOC when they debut.
TWM is a nice, forward thinking company....i like them. I don't necessarily like them because they said they'd send free product, but because they pay attention to developing products and items for apps that commodity driven companies don't pay attention to, and they offer fantastic customer service.
not bad for a bunch of canadians
