So I need some opinions on this GT4088 turbo. I HAVE searched and am just curious if someone else has ran a GT35 then upgraded to the 4088.
Here is my Dilemma, I have ran this polished GT35R for about 10 minutes before I blew up my motor( boost spike/ inexperience long story)

And now am contemplating on upgrading because I have everything that i need to build a 650-700wheel monster. ( except for needing to mill the t3 flange off my mani)
So i was thinking, spool would be relatively the same between the 35r on a stock gsr motor and the 4088 to a full built motor ( full laskey stage 3 head & block bored to 84mm)
So i guess my question is whether or not I should man up and get the larger turbo? Give me some opinions please

Well to make that power you are going to need race gas, and with race gas the GT35r is good for up to like 650whp...I think a safe estimate is like 620-630 whp with a 35r....what would you do with the extra 70 whp? Is this a track only car?
Yo man... If youre gonna get the 4088, the 4094 is a better choice IMO... I could post maps and crap, but im lazy... I had a 4088 I was going to run on the accord, but it smoked, so I put the PT6176 back on it. Pushed it to 637 WHP......
Im going to 4094 as well, spools VERY comparably to the 35r, but flows WAY more air. Good to around 800 and spools VERY well, Especially on a divided mani....
GT3582 (note I didnt use the 3567r with the 67mm Comp wheel)

GT4094:

yes i know it will be on racegas tune & street tune. with the extra 70wheel I think it would help push its fat *** around ( 3600lb coupe). The main reason I made this thread is because i am just seeing more than one opinion on this matter. I want to be able to have full spool by 5000rpm or close within 700rpm, because i will be spinning this thing to around 9500rpm.
I just dont want to have a hp curve like a supra.
Fun *** "street bike smasher style "street car, low 10 second track coupe and not having a couple thousand RPM of boost time before I smash it off the [freak]ing rev limiter.
Just wanting to know some other Guru's opinions on turbos & such. ( i forgot to mention I will be running the Skunk2 Pro 1 Cams( specs for lazy HT's)
Cam Specs Skunk2 Pro1 Series:
Intake:
264°/12.6 @ 1mm / 0.000” lash
Exhaust:
264°/11.9 @ 1mm / 0.000” lash

You sure about that? Spools more like a 42r than a 35r.

your like smack dab in the middle of a street car and race car, u just need to decide wich one u want.
street car-stick w/ the 35r and put some race fuel to it, 600whp is far too much for the street.

Precisely, so a gt 4088 would be like a middle ground. Flows a little bit better than the 35r enough to make maybe 100wheel more.
the 600+ HP will be mostly for the track( unless its Litre Bike smashing time with the et streets)

thats what i thought,( mind you his set-up is a built H22) I DONT want a 42r spool time. So if you are posting about a 42R + then go take a dirt nap

i remeber hearing how the wheels arent a good match and dont flow as much as they should.
If ur gonna have a late spool than u might as well go bigger than any 40r.

the wheels on the 4088? The problem is that I dont want the no spool on the street with the 42r.

If you feel like looking around a little more, the Borg Warner S300 line is a comparable set to the GT35-GT42 series turbos, but will cost you a good amount less. Just something to think about when deciding to change it up...

And that's fine...i just wanted to throw that out there because there are other options available.

Yeah it seems that the 37 is the "bastard" version of the 35r.
I am looking at the BW 366............. we will see how it goes. I'll keep you updated

2600 aint too bad, granted my hatch is 2300 but thats a hatch with manual windows no ac ps or windshield washer fluid and the back is gutted... even 450whp that car will be faster than almost anything on the street

after running a 35r on my car for a while now, i have a good idea of how it spools and feels. i have seen 4088r cars as well, and now 42r cars.
i think some will agree when i say it's 35r or 42r. the 42r's are spooling up fast - in fact i just watched one dyno and it wasnt far behind my 35r (this was a full race twin scroll and granted some cam upgrades, etc make a bit of difference). 35r is just more "streetable" i guess, but if you want to go bigger than the 35r, skip the 40 and go 42.

Yeah I am on the fence, I've never had a chance to drive my turbo car that much, being that it blew up. I have looked around and I think I want to go with a BW 366. Tony1 has told me that it is a little over 700wheel where as the 4088 is a 650 & still yet the 35r is a 600-630wheel turbo. If I want anything over that I think maybe I will go ahead with the MKIV Supra project.

Yeah I think I had my car up to 2800 or 3000lbs loaded up with my camping gear, slicks, suitcases and 2 people W/Stereo. Mind you I am a 6' 230lbs
My friends want me to go with the BW 372 but I dont know If i want to make that jump yet
Thanks alot everyone for your insight and helpful inquiries!! I'll keep you updated on the project build

Ill let that 4088 go. 500 bucks just for you man, you know the deal, its cherry, but the hot side smokes a bit. Id say it needs a hot side seal (we didnt change it when we freshened it up, no shaft play at all....
other than that it put down 650WHP at 21 PSI on Joels 2 liter GSR motor
