Default Tach wire... I trust you guys!

I have been looking for a little help and cannot seem to find it anywhere so I turn to you guys, because I refuse to post in the Civic forum... I have slightly grown to trust you guys opinion and knowledge.

I have a 1995 Civic that is swapped with a JDM GSR. The setup is a Garret .60 trim tuned on Hondata s200.

The Problem - I got a tach from a guy for a steal... It is the Apexi tach that is really slim.

http://www.apexi-usa.com/produ...Num=1

It works great until I am at full boost and the needle just jumps around like crazy. I can't explain it and neither can anyone I know. Apexi keeps telling me that it is because it is not grounded right, but I do car audio installs for a living and am very familiar with how to ground something. None the less I have actually changed the ground twice and have gotten no results.

Has anyone ever had this problem with a tach and if so how did you fix it?

Sorry this isn't about an RSX or EP3 I just don't want to post in the civic forum with a bunch of idiots... Don't flame just lock if this is not appropriate.

where did you tap it into? you should tap it into the blue wire on the distributor.

I was thinking that going closer to the distro may help. I have it closer to the firewall than to to the dizzy.

I will try that and let you know.

My only prpoblem is that the guy I got the tach from had it wired at the ECU. Would this make any difference?
