Default a few days after installing my fuel cutoff

i nearly caught my self and my car on fire. going down the road and all the sudden my car dies and smoke just pours out in the car, i can barely see. turns out my wiring had exploded and melted all to hell.. i still dont know how my feet werent burnt i had on flip flops. so i jus ripped the wring out and connected the original.
went to my friend dan's and he banned me from doing electrical on my car lol.
i have had some pretty bad experiences with electrical before.

ANYWAY

im running the switch directly to the line under the drivers side, its black wire with a yellow tracer, what amperage wire do i need to get? the 3 amp switch seemed to do the job for the few days the cutoff WAS working, im not sure if its the best, that wire is big.
inputs please.
ill post some pics tomorrow if needed

There's your problem right there, 3 amp switch, thats too small. Use something bigger. I think on that wire you need at least a 12 amp switch, if I remember correctly. Good luck
