Smoking at VTEC
Ok, here's the problem with my car. At high RPM (ie. when VTEC is going) my car seems to be smoking. Theres some weird smoke coming out from the exhaust. Its kinda blue...but not too bad. I know its probably some oil being burned but I don't know where its coming from. I did a compression test and the came out as 135/130/130/123. That last one kinda worries me...any ideas where the oil is burning from? Some dude told me it could be my valve seals...is he right?
blue= oil
um if its only when you hit vtec it could be a valveseal or valveguide, but i would think you would see a problem out of vtec too
check the solenoid for a leak, i dont know how the smoke is gonna get to your exhaust but its possible.

could it possibly be some oil leak from the 4th cylinder or something?? It seemed a little off when I did the compression test. The smoke isn't blue like the stuff you see off those nasty smelly cars, but its mostly white...kinda like the smoke that comes out from a car with no cat...but I got a cat so its not that.
those readings are reallllly low, did you do the test with the throttle wide open, 7 rotations? if you did and thsoe readings are true, then your rings are beat...
I did do it when the car was warm. I gave it 4 rotations then stopped, then did another 4 rotations. If those compression numbers are low, then what numberes are they supposed to be at?

I'd check your cam.... Since it's only happening when v-tec is engaged, and I don't think it would be the solonoid.
Hey would should the compression readings be in a civic?

B18C1 is 160-180psi stock CR @ 6 cranks
B18C5 is 205-225psi
it is ok to have as much as 15% diff in each cyl
as even as possible is the goal... sound like
your rings if not also your valve seals...
time for a rebuild!
